Email at the
Speed of Thought
SCRATCHmail is a keyboard-first email and calendar client for Google Workspace. It runs entirely on your Mac, so every keystroke answers instantly and your mail never passes through anyone’s servers but Google’s.
Version 0.2 · Apple silicon · Works with Google Workspace and Gmail

Built for Flow
Everything you need, one keystroke away
We built SCRATCHmail for people who live in their inbox. There is no mouse hunting and no waiting on a web app. You see a single clean pane, and every action has a key.
Keyboard First
Familiar Superhuman-style bindings for everything: J and K to move, E to mark done, R to reply. Press ⌘K for the command palette or ? for the full list.
Private by Design
Your mail syncs into a local cache on your Mac. Sign-in tokens are encrypted with the macOS Keychain, and the app talks only to Google’s APIs.
Remind Me
Press H to clear a message until you need it: this evening, tomorrow, next week or any time you type. It can come back only if no one replies.
Undo & Send Later
Every send waits 10 seconds so you can pull it back with Z. Schedule a message with ⌘⇧L and it goes out on time.
Calendar Built In
Press 0 to see your Google Calendar next to your mail. Switch between week and month with W and M, jump to today with T, and add an event with B.
Every Account
Switch between accounts with ⌃1–9. Press ⌘⇧F to change the From address to any account or send-as alias, and use full Gmail syntax when you search.
Your Mail Stays on Your Mac
No middleman. No cloud of ours.
Most fast email apps route your inbox through their own servers. SCRATCHmail doesn’t have any. It connects your Mac straight to Google, and everything else stays with you.
Your Mac
SCRATCHmail
- Local mail cache
- Tokens in the Keychain
- Reminders and scheduled sends
Direct HTTPS
OAuth with PKCE · no relay servers
Your Workspace
- Gmail API
- Google Calendar API
- Nothing else, ever
Instant, Even Offline
Your inbox loads from local storage, so moving through it never waits on the network. SCRATCHmail syncs every minute and whenever you bring the window forward.
Safe Rendering
SCRATCHmail cleans message HTML and shows it in a sandbox. Links open in your own browser, never inside the app.
Always On Duty
If you close the window, SCRATCHmail keeps running in the Dock. Reminders and scheduled sends still go off on time.
Hands on the Keys
Muscle memory you already have
If you’ve used Superhuman, you already know how to use SCRATCHmail. If you haven’t, a morning is enough to learn it. You can press ? anytime to see every shortcut.
